MC Authority is a federal authorization that allows trucking businesses to operate as for-hire carriers across state lines. If your business transports goods or passengers for compensation in interstate commerce, you need MC Authority.
Once you submit your application, it typically takes around 20-25 business days for the FMCSA to issue MC Authority. The process can be expedited with the correct submission of required documents and insurance proof.
To apply for MC Authority, you’ll need:
- A USDOT number
- Proof of insurance
- BOC-3 Process Agent Filing
- A completed MC Authority application
